Why does the LED underwater light with a lifespan of 50,000 hours fail after one day?

HOME    Industry News    Why does the LED underwater light with a lifespan of 50,000 hours fail after one day?

LED underwater light is a durable product, generally speaking, it can be used for about 50,000 hours.

In terms of the types of waterproof sealants alone, there are as many as 4-6 LED underwater lights. From production to delivery, they have to go through numerous tests and tests before they can reach the hands of our consumers. It is very difficult to encounter damage when buying from a regular lamp manufacturer/merchant.

Some friends bought the lamps in less than a day, but what happened? What caused the damage of the lamp?

1. Test the lamp directly with 220V

Some masters who have no experience in installing underwater lights directly used 220V to connect, causing all dozens of LED underwater lights on a line to be burned.

MITE Pool Lighting Recommendations:

When installing LED underwater lights, be sure to read the precautions in the manual carefully. During the construction, it is best to hire an experienced construction team to avoid such cases.

2. Not waterproof when installed

Sometimes customers report that the lamp is broken, but after an on-site inspection, it is found that the connection between the lamp and the main line is obviously watered. It should be emphasized here that although the LED underwater light is waterproof, it is necessary to do a good job of waterproofing other than the light during the construction process.

MITE Pool Lighting Recommendations:

Waterproof work should be done during the construction process, and waterproof junction box and sealant should be used at the connection of power supply, transformer and underwater light.

In theory, the safest way is to put the low pressure part into the water, and the high pressure (220V) part outside the water surface.

3. The underwater light is too far away from the transformer

The general electricity consumption of underwater lights is 12V, but the current is not enough due to the long distance of the lead wire and the voltage drop at the end. Although the light is good, the voltage is not up to the level, and the light will not light up normally.

This is because the wire itself has resistance, which will share a part of the voltage, causing the voltage of the remote underwater lamp to be less than 12V.

MITE Pool Lighting Recommendations:

The distance between the underwater light and the outlet of the transformer should not be too far. If the distance is too far, the power of the transformer can be increased. In addition, the path size of the main line should also be considered.

In addition, the total power of the LED underwater light should be equipped with a suitable transformer. The total power of the transformer is recommended to be at least 130% of the total power of all powered lamps. If the distance is long, the power should be increased appropriately to ensure the normal power supply of the lamps.

For example, there are 12 existing 18W lamps, and the total required power is 18x12=216W, then the transformer power should be: 216*130% = 280.8W, and a 300W transformer should be used.

Although the quality of the LED underwater lamp is solid and durable, it should also pay attention to standardized operation. It is best to ask a professional construction team to do it. Be sure to read the instructions carefully before construction. If you have any questions during construction, you can also consult relevant business personnel to avoid Irregular operations lead to damage to the lamps and lanterns, and the progress of the project can be better promoted.
